Die SWANU of Namibia hat sich ausdrücklich für die Thematisierung „historischer Landrechte“ ausgesprochen. Dies betonte SWANU-Nationalversammlungsmitglied Usutuaije Maamberua laut Windhoek Observer. Er verurteilte die Aussagen von Staatspräsident Hage Geingob und Gründungspräsident Sam Nujoma. Ohne die Thematisierung dieses bei der anstehenden 2. Nationalen Landkonferenz, müsste diese gar nicht stattfinden, sagte Maamberua. Geingob, wie auch Nujoma, erteilten den „historischen Landrechten“ eine klare Absage. Namibia gehöre allen Staatsbürgern und sei nicht zwischen Bevölkerungsgruppen aufteilbar, hieß es von Geingob. Nujoma hält solche Forderungen für „unpatriotisch“.
Die Situation in den Mitgliedsstaaten der SADC ist generell sicher und stabil. Dies sagte der SADC-Direktor für Sicherheitszusammenarbeit, Politik und Verteidigung, Jorge Cardoso. Lediglich in der Demokratischen Republik Kongo und Lesotho gäbe es größere Probleme. Aus diesem Grund sei man in beiden Staaten seit Jahren mit eigenen Beobachter- bzw. Friedensmissionen präsent, hieß es. Die unsichere Lage in Teilen Mosambiks wurde beim aktuellen 38. SADC-Gipfel in Windhoek bisher nicht thematisiert. Die kürzlich abgehaltenen Wahlen in Simbabwe bezeichnete Cardoso als „friedlich“.
Die Türkei stemmt sich gegen den dramatischen Verfall der Lira. Finanzminister Albayrak hat einen Aktionsplan angekündigt um die Devisenmärkte zu beruhigen. Was er konkret vorhat, ist noch nicht bekannt. Die türkische Lira ist weiter im freien Fall – der aktuelle Konflikt zwischen den USA und der Türkei hat diese Entwicklung zuletzt verschärft. Seit heute gelten die doppelten US-Strafzölle auf Stahl und Aluminium aus der Türkei.
Russlands Präsident Putin kommt nach Deutschland – Samstag will er sich mit Kanzlerin Merkel auf Schloss Meseberg in Brandenburg treffen. Die beiden wollen über die Lage in Syrien und in der Ost-Ukraine sprechen. Außerdem gehts um die russischen Gaslieferungen.
