In der türkischen Metropole Istanbul ist in der Nähe des Dolmabahce-Palastes ein Polizeiposten angegriffen worden. Medien zufolge gab es keine Verletzten. Zwei Bewaffnete seien verhaftet und das Gebiet abgeriegelt worden, teilte die Polizei mit. Der Palast gilt als beliebte Attraktion für Touristen und dient dem Regierungschef als Amtssitz, wenn er sich in Istanbul aufhält.
In Namibia bleibt der Leitzins für die kommenden vier Wochen bei 6,5 Prozent. Das teilte die Bank of Namibia heute mit. Der Anstieg bei den Schulden privater Haushalte habe sich von 16,1 Prozent im Mai auf 14,7 Prozent im Juni verringert. Allerdings sei die Neuverschuldung im ersten Halbjahr mit einem Durchschnitt von 16 Prozent noch immer besorgniserregend hoch gewesen. Im gleichen Zeitraum im Vorjahr habe sie 15,3 Prozent betragen. Für dieses Jahr erwartet die Bank of Namibia ein Wachstum der Wirtschaft von 5,0 Prozent, 0,5 Prozent mehr als 2014. Der Leitzins ist der Zinssatz, zu dem sich Geschäftsbanken Geld beschaffen.
Der deutsche Bundestag hat das dritte Hilfspaket für Griechenland gebilligt. Allerdings stimmten 63 Abgeordnete der Regierungsparteien CDU und CSU dagegen. Damit ist der Widerstand im Vergleich zur vorigen Abstimmung über Hilfen für Griechenland im Juli gestiegen. Als letztes Mitglied der EU entscheidet Holland heute über das Rettungspaket, das in den kommenden drei Jahren bis zu 86 Milliarden Euro umfasst. Im Gegenzug muss Griechenland umfangreiche Reformen umsetzen.
Im Juli sind mehr als 100.000 Flüchtlinge in der Europäischen Union angekommen, dreimal so viel wie im Juli 2014. Das gab die EU-Grenzschutz-Agentur Frontex bekannt. Die Gesamtzahl der Flüchtlinge seit Jahresbeginn stieg damit auf über 340.000. Die meisten Flüchtlinge stammen laut Frontex aus Syrien und Afghanistan.
Japan hat einen Raumfrachter zur Internationalen Raumstation ISS entsandt. Die Trägerrakete mit dem Transporter sei erfolgreich vom Weltraum-Bahnhof Tanegashima gestartet, teilte die japanische Raumfahrtagentur Jaxa mit. Der Frachter versorgt die Astronauten der ISS mit Trinkwasser und Kleidung. Außerdem sind Forschungs-Instrumente und Ersatzteile an Bord.
