Fußball
Namibias Nationalmannschaft hat sich zum zweiten Mal nach 2018 für die Afrikanische Nationenmeisterschaft qualifiziert. Am Samstag gab es im Rückspiel im Windhoeker Sam-Nujoma-Stadion einen ungefährdeten 2-zu-0-Sieg gegen Madagaskar. Beide Tore schoss Elmo Kambindu. Das Hinspiel hatten die Brave Warriors in Antananarivo noch mit 0 zu 1 verloren. Ebenfalls qualifizieren konnten sich Gastgeber Kamerun, Marokko, Ruanda, Sambia, Simbabwe, Tansania, Togo, Uganda, beide Kongo-Republiken, Burkina Faso, Niger, Guinea und Tunesien. – Die Nationenmeisterschaft, in der nur Spieler der heimischen Ligen spielberechtigt sind, wird seit 2009 alle zwei Jahre organisiert.
Cricket
Namibia hat sein erstes Spiel beim Qualifikationsturnier für die T20-Cricket-WM 2020 verloren. In den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten gab es eine deutliche 44-Run-Niederlage gegen die Niederlande. Im zweiten Spiel gegen Papua-Neuguinea verlor Namibia ebenfalls deutlich mit 81 Runs. Nun geht es morgen gegen Schottland.
Netball
Beim M1 Nations Cup in Singapur hat die namibische Netballauswahl zum Auftakt in einem hochkarätigen Spiel 54 zu 54 gegen den Gastgeber gespielt. Heute geht es für Namibia gegen Irland. – Netball ist, neben Rugby und Fußball, seit 2018 offizielle Nationalsportart in Namibia.

Rugby
Am Wochenende fanden die Viertelfinalpartien der Rugby-WM in Japan statt. Weltmeister Neuseeland ließ der Mannschaft Irlands, der Nummer 4 der Welt, beim 46 zu 14 nicht den Hauch einer Chance. Fast ebenso deutlich schlug England Ex-Weltmeister Australien mit 40 zu 16. Wales und Frankreich trennten sich in einem packenden Spiel mit 20 zu 19. Zur Halbzeit führte Frankreich mit 19 zu 10. Südafrika überzeugte beim 26 zu 3 gegen Gastgeber Japan. Nun kommt es im Halbfinale bereits zum Spiel der Giganten. Die Nummer 1 der Welt, Neuseeland, trifft auf die Nummer 2, England. Südafrika spielt gegen Wales. Die Spiele finden am Samstag bzw. Sonntag statt.
