Simbabwe kann den totalen Blackout wohl vorerst abwenden. Die Regierung hat angekündigt zunächst 10 Millionen US-Dollar an den südafrikanischen Stromversorger Eskom zu zahlen. Damit hoffe man auf eine Lieferung von bis zu 400 Megawatt Elektrizität. Aufgrund immenser Schulden Simbabwes bei Eskom sowie dem mosambikanischen Stromversorger HCB, muss das Land seit Tagen mit fast keinem Strom auskommen. Man könne derzeit maximal zwei Drittel des Bedarfs decken, gab der simbabwische Stromkonzert Zesa zu. Die Schulden bei beiden Unternehmen belaufen sich auf 83 Millionen US-Dollar, umgerechnet mehr als 1,2 Milliarden Namibia Dollar.
