Auch die namibische Regierung ist mit der Höhe der bisher vereinbarten Zahlungen im Rahmen des Genozid-Abkommens mit Deutschland nicht einverstanden. Vizepräsident Nangolo Mbumba sagte dazu heute: „We need to recognize that the amount of 1,1 billion Euro agreed upon between the two governments is not enough and does not adequately address the initial quantum of reparations initially submitted to the German Government.” Deutschland habe sich aber bereit erklärt, die Summer im Laufe der Implementierung des Abkommens neu zu verhandeln. Mit über 60 Prozent soll der Großteil der bislang veranschlagten rund 17 Milliarden Namibia Dollar zum Ankauf von Land verwendet und in Ausbildungsprogramme investiert werden.
Die Regierung hat die Existenz eines geheimen Zusatzabkommens zwischen Namibia und Botswana dementiert. Das berichtet der Namibian unter Berufung auf eine Erklärung der Ministerien für Inneres und Landwirtschaft. Das Grenzabkommen zwischen beiden Ländern sei 2018 verfassungskonform durch das Parlament ratifiziert worden. Weitere Abkommen zur Übertragung von Land in der Sambesi-Region an Botswana gebe es nicht. Zudem seien, entgegen anderslautender Berichte, die traditionellen Behörden und die Abgeordneten aus der Region in die Verhandlungen zum Grenzabkommen eingebunden worden.
Die Staatsanwaltschaft von Südafrika hat heute zahlreiche Vermögenswerte der Guptas und mit der Familie in Verbindung stehenden Personen und Firmen beschlagnahmt. Zuvor hatte das Obergericht in Bloemfontein einem entsprechenden Antrag stattgegeben. Unter den beschlagnahmten Besitztümern befinden sich unter anderem mehrere Luxusanwesen nahe Johannesburg und Kapstadt. Gestern hatte die Staatsanwaltschaft bereits die Verhaftung und Auslieferung verschiedener ins Ausland geflohenen Mitglieder der Gupta-Familie durch Interpol beantragt.
