Das Justizministerium will eine Reihe weiterer, unnötiger bzw. überholter Gesetze abschaffen. Dies teilte Justizminister Yvonne Dausab gegenüber der New Er mit. Es gehe um die laufende Diskussion zum Gesetz zur Abschaffung obsoleter Gesetze. Durch die Verabschiedung würden 71 Gesetze, die zum Großteil mehrere Jahrzehnte alt sind, abgeschafft werden. Sie ergeben in vielen Hinsichten keinen Sinn mehr, da es vor allem von Verwaltungsangelegenheiten zu Zeiten Südwestafrikas und der Apartheid-Ära handele. Es ginge aber nicht pauschal um alle alten Gesetze, da solche, für die es nicht eine Berücksichtigung in einem neueren Gesetz gibt, weiter gelten. Dies betrifft unter anderem das mehr als 100 Jahre alte Gesetz zum Sonntagshandel. Die Justizkommission habe alle Gesetze des Landes unter die Lupe genommen, so Dausab.
