Amnesty International hat vor gravierenden Folgen der anhaltenden Dürre im Süden Madagaskars gewarnt. Mehr als eine Million Menschen seien akut von Hungersnot bedroht, zudem gebe es bereits Berichte über erste Hungertote. Rund ein Drittel der Gesamtbevölkerung sind einem neuen Bericht der Menschenrechtsorganisation zufolge unterernährt. Die schlimmste Dürre seit 40 Jahren sei demnach auf den Klimawandel zurückzuführen. Dementsprechend fordern die Autoren die Weltgemeinschaft auf vor dem anstehenden Klimagipfel in Glasgow auf, strikte Klimaziele zu vereinbaren. Zudem müsse die humanitäre Hilfe nach Madagaskar deutlich aufgestockt werden.
