Südafrikas Präsident Cyril Ramaphosa hat den Angriff auf das Verfassungsgericht in Johannesburg als beunruhigend bezeichnet. Die Polizei hatte am Mittwoch einen 36-jährigen Mann verhaftet, der versucht haben soll, sich mit einem Hammer Zugang zum Gerichtsgebäude zu verschaffen. Dabei sollen die Beamten auch einen Warnschuss abgegeben haben. Die genauen Hintergründe der Tat sind noch unklar. Der Verdächtige soll nun einer psychologischen Untersuchung unterzogen werden. Justizminister Ronald Lamola verurteilte die Tat derweil als Angriff auf die Demokratie. Das Verfassungsgericht bezeichnete er als Wahrzeichen des Freiheitskampfes.
