Nach dem schweren Erdbeben in der Türkei und Syrien hat Präsident Hage Geingob den Hinterbliebenen der Opfer sein Beileid ausgesprochen. Man sei in Gedanken bei den Betroffenen und hoffe weiterhin, dass unter den Trümmern noch Überlebende gefunden werden könnten. Auch Oppositionsführer McHenry Venaani wendete sich mit einer Beileidsbekundung an die türkische Botschaft in Namibia. Den jüngsten Zahlen zufolge sollen bei dem Erdbeben am frühen Montagmorgen mindestens 8.300 Menschen getötet worden sein. Experten befürchten jedoch, dass diese Zahlen noch steigen werden. Zehntausende Menschen wurden zudem verletzt.
