Der Bergbau im Land zieht wieder deutlich an. Neuesten Zahlen der Industrievertretungen nach gab es im September ein Wachstum von mehr als neun Prozent. Schon im August wurde ein Zuwachs von fast fünf Prozent verzeichnet. So wurden im September mit 138.000 Karat zehn Prozent mehr als im Vormonat und gar vier Mal so viele Diamanten wie im September 2020 gefördert. Ein gleiches Bild zeigt sich beim Abbau von Gold, der um etwa 80 Prozent gegenüber dem Vorjahresmonat zulegen konnte. Derzeit sind 14.000 Menschen im Bergbau beschäftigt.
