Das kanadische Bergbauunternehmen Osino Resources hat nach eigenen Angaben eine Bergbaulizenz für ihre geplante Goldmine nahe Karibib erhalten. Ein entsprechender Antrag war bereits vor rund einem Jahr eingereicht worden. Die Bergbaulizenz für das Twin-Hills-Projekt soll für 20 Jahre gelten. Laut Osino-Geschäftsführer Heye Daun sei man aktuell noch in Diskussionen mit dem Heritage Council (NHC), da sich im Minengebiet historische Gräber befänden. Eine vorläufige Machbarkeitsstudie hatte zuletzt die finanzielle Tragfähigkeit des Projekts bestätigt.
