Namibia hat im zweiten Quartal des Jahres erstmals seit Ende 2019 wieder ein Wachstum des Bruttoinlandsprodukts verzeichnet. Nach Angaben der Statistikbehörde NSA stieg das BIP im Untersuchungszeitraum um 1,6 Prozent. Entscheidenden Anteil an dem jüngsten Aufschwung hatten vor allem der Einzel- und Großhandel. Aber auch das Hotel- und Gaststättengewerbe, sowie die Fischerei verzeichneten ein deutliches Wachstum. Starke Einbrüche wurden vor allem im Bausektor und in der Finanzdienstleistungsbranche verzeichnet. Trotz der positiven Entwicklung warnte Chefstatistiker Alex Shimuafeni vor zu großer Euphorie. Das Wachstum ginge von einem insgesamt sehr geringen Niveau aus.
