Brustkrebs ist die häufigste Krebsart in Namibia. Dies geht aus einer Erhebung der Namibischen Krebsvereinigung CAN auf Grundlage des Nationalen Krebs-Registers hervor. Demnach gab es in den vergangenen zehn Jahren 3780 Fälle von Brustkrebs. Etwa 2,5 Prozent davon sei bei Männern vorgekommen. Auf Brustkrebs folge Gebärmutterhalskrebs als zweithäufigste Art. Es sei deshalb laut dem CAN-Vorsitzenden Rolf Hansen wichtig, dass Namibia noch mehr in die Aufklärung und Vorsorge investiere. Der „Breast Cancer Awareness Month“ kommende Woche sei dabei ein wichtiger Schritt.
