In der Demokratischen Republik Kongo sind zigtausende mit der Forderung nach freien Wahlen auf die Straßen gegangen. Einem Bericht von Al-Jazeera nach, seien alleine am Samstag mehr als 10.000 Demonstranten in der Hauptstadt Kinshasa gezählt worden. Sie rissen eine Statue von Präsident Felix Tshisekedi ab. Die Polizei setzte Tränengas ein. Die teilweise gewaltbereiten Demonstranten warfen Molotowcocktails. Auslöser der Proteste war eine Empfehlung von sechs religiösen Gruppen, wonach Denis Kadima als Kopf der Wahlkommission CENI wiedereingesetzt werden solle. Politische Analysten und internationale NGOs warfen Kadima 2018 Wahlbetrug zu Gunsten von Thisekedi vor. Die Aufständischen forderten eine freie und unabhängige Wahlkommission.
