Das Flut-Phänomen Efundja hat die nördlichsten Regionen Namibias erreicht. Nach Angaben der Nachrichtenagentur Nampa seien die Wassermassen aus Südangola erstmals am Freitag auch in die Region Ohangwena vorgedrungen. Lokale Behörden warnten, dass sich das Wasser schnell fortbewegen würde. Vor allem Kinder sollten daher das Durchqueren der Oshana genannten Überschwemmungsgebiete meiden. Schäden an Häusern oder Straßen seien noch nicht verzeichnet worden. Das Efunda-Phänomen wird durch schwere Regengüsse in Angola hervorgerufen und tritt regelmäßig auf. Das Hochwasser bringt dabei meist auch gute Fisch- und Froschernten sowie Wasser für das Vieh im Norden mit sich.
