Pio Teek ist tot. Der erste schwarze Richter Namibias starb am Dienstag nach kurzer schwerer Krankheit. Dies geht aus einer Beileidsbekundung von Chief Justice Peter Shivute hervor. Teek war ab 1992 Richter am Obergericht und wurde 2003 an den Obersten Gerichtshof berufen. Shivute erinnerte an ihn als Symbolfigur für die Rechte von Schwarzen. Teek wurde 74 Jahre alt. – Er hatte vor Kurzem eine Klage gegen den Staat verloren. Hierbei forderte er eine Entschädigung über 23 Millionen Namibia Dollar in Zusammenhang mit Anschuldigungen des Kindesmissbrauchs vor 15 Jahren. Teek war damals freigesprochen worden.
