Der Nationale Jugenddienst NYS hat für das Umweltministerium die Neubauarbeiten am Etosha-Zaun übernommen. Medienberichten unter Berufung auf das MEFT nach, seien zunächst zwei Millionen Namibia Dollar für Material vorgesehen. Der Zaun des Etosha-Nationalparks wird in fast allen Bereichen saniert bzw. neu errichtet und teilweise mit Strom versehen. Die Vergabe an ein Privatunternehmen für die zu bauenden knapp 820 Kilometer hätte etwa eine halbe Milliarde Namibia Dollar verschlungen. Nun soll dies durch Freiwillige des Jugenddienstes binnen zwei Jahren für deutlich weniger geschehen. 130 Kilometer seien bereits erneuert worden.
