Knapp 370 mutmaßliche Wilderer wurden in den vergangenen neun Monaten verhaftet. Dies bestätigte das Umweltministerium dem Namibian nach. Die hohe Zahl zeige ganz klar die Ernsthaftigkeit, mit der gegen Wilderer von vor alle Nashörner, Elefanten und Schuppentieren vorgegangen werde. Aus diesem Grund sei auch die Zahl der gewilderten Tiere deutlich rückläufig. Die meisten Wilderer wurden in den Regionen Kunene, Kavango-Ost und Sambesi verhaftet. Im Vorjahr waren insgesamt 654 mutmaßliche Wilderer festgenommen worden.
