Staatspräsident Hage Geingob hat feierlich das neue Justizjahr eröffnet. Dies sei vor dem Hintergrund der Unabhängigkeit der Justiz ein besonderes Ereignis, sagte Geingob in seiner Ansprache. Es sei wichtig, dass eine freie Justiz die Ordnung im Land erhalte. Insgesamt stehe Namibia vor einem guten Jahr 2023, in dem es vor allem auch wirtschaftlich bergauf gehe. Geingob dankte der Justiz auch für die Leistungen in den vergangenen Jahren, die das Land aufgrund der COVID-19-Pandemie auch rechtlich vor eine neue Aufgabe gestellt hätten. Wichtig sei Geingob auch, dass der Justizsektor gestärkt werde. Dazu zähle, dass vakante Positionen bei Staatsanwälten und Richtern möglichst schnell besetzt werden müssten.
