Präsident Hage Geingob hat sogenannte „hate speech“ als großen Anlass zur Sorge bezeichnet. Von Hass geleitete Sprache fördere Extremismus und stelle so eine Gefahr für Multilaterismus, Zusammenarbeit und friedliche Konfliktlösungen dar. Zuletzt habe auch die Corona-Pandemie neue Randgruppen geschaffen, die Opfer von Hassrede würden, so Geingob. Der Präsident forderte daher vermehrte Aufklärung schon in der Schule, auch um die Verbreitung von Fehlinformationen auf den sozialen Medien einzudämmen. Geingob machte seine Aussagen im Rahmen einer virtuellen Ansprache an die globale Ministerkonferenz zum Einsatz gegen Hassrede.
