In Windhoek ist in dieser Woche der Grundstein für zwei Abfall-Rücknahmezentren gelegt worden. Sie sind Teil eines durch die Europäische Union finanzierten Abfallmanagement-Projekts in der Hauptstadt. Auch die deutsche Partnerstadt Bremen ist dabei involviert. Windhoeks Bürgermeisterin Sade Gawanas sprach bei der Grundsteinlegung von bedeutenden Fortschritten bei dem Projekt, trotz der Auswirkungen der pandemiebedingten Lockdowns. Nach der Fertigstellung sollen die beiden Zentren in Katutura bis 2025 rund 2.000 Tonnen Abfall recyclen.
