Handelsministerin Lucia Iipumbu hat die Gesetzgebung für ausländische Direktinvestitionen in Namibia als veraltet bezeichnet. Das zuständige Gesetz aus dem Jahr 1993 sei neueren Geboten wie Nachhaltigkeit nicht gewachsen, erklärte sie im Rahmen der Investitionskonferenz in Dubai. Die Ministerin kündigte daher eine Überarbeitung der aktuellen Gesetzgebung zu Investitionen an. Auch die Geschäftsführerin des Investitions- und Entwicklungsrats (NIPDB), Nangula Uaandja, forderte einen modernisierten und transparenten Rechtsrahmen.
