Die Kriminalitätsrate in Windhoek ist in den ersten drei Monaten des Jahres teils deutlich zurückgegangen. So wurden zwischen Januar und März in der Hauptstadt 24 Prozent weniger Gewaltverbrechen und elf Prozent weniger Eigentumsdelikte im Vergleich zum vorherigen Quartal verzeichnet. Das geht aus dem am Dienstag durch die Stadtverwaltung abgesegneten Leistungsbericht für den entsprechenden Zeitraum hervor. Im Straßenverkehr wurde derweil ein Anstieg der alkoholbedingten Unfälle verzeichnet. Um dagegen vorzugehen will die City Police verstärkt auf Alkoholkontrollen setzen.
