Dem chinesischen Bergbauunternehmen Xinfeng wurde eine vorübergehende Transport- und Ausfuhrgenehmigung erteilt. Dies gab das Bergbauministerium bekannt. So sei es dem Unternehmen möglich, langfristige Lieferverträge einzuhalten und ein in Walvis Bay befindliches Frachtschiff zu beladen. Die Genehmigung gelte bis zum 29. November für 55.000 Tonnen Erz. Danach trete automatisch das erteilte Exportverbot für Lithium wieder ein, ehe die Vorwürfe gegen Xinfeng geklärt seien. Es stehen Bestechungsvorwürfe zum Erhalt der Bergbaulizenz im Raum. Das Unternehmen baut seit einigen Monaten Lithium zwischen Omaruru und Uis ab.
