Das Fischereiministerium spielt mit dem Gedanken hochmoderne Drohnen zur Überwachung der namibischen Gewässer einzusetzen. Der New Era nach liegen solche Pläne schon länger in den Schubladen. Derzeit würde das Thema aber wieder intensiv angegangen, da die illegale Fischerei zunehmen. Problematisch seien die sehr hohen Kosten zur Anschaffung von Überwachungsdrohnen. Derzeit werde die Überwachung der Ausschließlichen Wirtschaftszone vor allem mit Schiffen vorgenommen werden. Gesetzlich sei der Einsatz von Drohnen möglich und Beweise seien auch gerichtsverwertbar, betonte das Ministerium.
