Südafrikas Wirtschaftsaussichten und staatliche Finanzpolitik geben Anlass zur Hoffnung. Dies teilte die Ratingagentur Moody’s mit und stuft das Land deshalb von „negativ“ auf „stabil“ herauf. Die Regierung habe einen klaren Weg eingeschlagen, damit mittelfristig die Schulden in den Griff zu bekommen sind. Die COVID19-Pandemie hatte die Staatsschulden Südafrikas noch weiter in die Höhe getrieben. Nun sei man aber auf dem richtigen Weg, so Moody’s. Es sehe so aus, als würden sich die Schulden bei 80 Prozent des Bruttoinlandsproduktes stabilisieren können.
