Namibia wird vom aktuellen Diamantenboom deutlich profitieren. Dies sagte Bergbauminister Tom Alweendo laut The Brief. Zuletzt habe es beim ersten großen Diamantenverkauf am Welthandelsplatz Gaborone einen Preiszuwachs von fünf bis 20 Prozent gegeben. Namibia werde daran, durch den 50-prozentigen Anteil des Staates an Namdeb und Debmarine direkt profitieren. Namibias Diamanten gelten als die reinsten weltweit und erzielen ohnehin einen Preis der häufig 100 Prozent über dem Weltdurchschnitt liegt. 2021 wurden in Namibia knapp 1,5 Millionen Karat abgebaut.
