Die Meinung vieler Namibier zum Einfluss Chinas auf ihr Land hat sich in den vergangenen Jahren deutlich zum Negativen gewandelt. Das geht aus einer neuen Afrobarometer-Umfrage zu dem Thema hervor. Zwar sehen noch immer fast 50 Prozent der Bevölkerung den Einfluss Pekings als positiv, das entspricht jedoch einem Rückgang von fast 20 Prozentpunkten im Vergleich zu 2014. Nur in Gabun war der Stimmungswechsel der Studie nach noch deutlicher zu spüren. Vor allem die Verschuldung gegenüber China wird in Namibia kritisch gesehen. 80 Prozent der Befragten gaben an, dass die Regierung sich zu viel Geld von Peking geliehen habe.
