Die nach Indien exportierten namibischen Geparde sind offenbar wohlauf. Laut dem indischen Premierminister Narendra Modi seien zwei der Raubkatzen bereits aus der Quarantäne-Einrichtung entlassen worden. Sie würden sich nun in einem größeren Gehege an die Bedingungen im Kuno-Nationalpark anpassen. Weitere Tiere sollen in Kürze folgen. Im September waren insgesamt acht namibische Geparde nach Indien geflogen worden. In einer Vereinbarung zwischen beiden Ländern ist zudem vorgesehen, dass bei einem erfolgreichen Wiederansiedlung in Indien weitere Geparde ausgeflogen werden könnten.
