In Südafrika hat die Regierung den Corona-Notstand erneut um einen Monat verlängert. Das gab der Minister im Präsidialamt, Mondli Gungubele heute bekannt. Die Entscheidung soll noch in der kommenden Woche auch im Amtsblatt offiziell gemacht werden. Der Notstand soll nun mindestens bis zum 15. Januar gelten. Er war Ende März 2020 in Südafrika als Ausbruch der Corona-Pandemie ausgerufen worden. Das Gesundheitsministeirum des Landes hatte zuletzt beinahe 20.000 Neuinfektionen an einem Tag vermeldet. Nach wie vor ist die Provinz Gauteng das Epizentrum der vierten Welle in Südafrika.
