Die Organisation für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (OECD) hat vor sozialen Rückschritten in Südafrika gewarnt. Bei der Vorstellung des neuen Wirtschaftsberichts zu Südafrika, erklärte OECD-Chefökonom Álvaro Pereira, dass man dringend die Staatsfinanzen und Energieversorgung in den Griff bekommen müsse. Andernfalls drohe der Verlust von hart umkämpften Fortschritten in den Bereichen Bildung, Gesundheit und Wohnungswesen. Vor allem die anhaltenden Stromausfälle würden die Wirtschaft des Landes belasten. Die OECD geht für Südafrika in diesem Jahr von einem Wirtschaftswachstum von 1,8 Prozent aus.
