Im Streit um das Genozid-Abkommen zwischen Deutschland und Namibia wollen die Ovaherero Traditional Authority (OTA) und die Nama Traditional Leaders Association (NTLA) nun die Möglichkeit ausloten, die deutsche Regierung vor den Internationalen Gerichtshof (IGH) zu bringen. Ein Team aus internationalen Anwälten sei daher angewiesen worden, entsprechende Schritte einzuleiten, so der NTLA-Vorsitzende Johannes Isaack. Die Verhandlungen mit der namibischen Regierung seien ebenfalls gescheitert, nachdem ein Treffen mit Vizepräsident Nangolo Mbumba zuletzt keine neuen Erkenntnisse gebracht habe. Daher wolle man gegen die Regierung vor das Obergericht ziehen, so Isaack weiter. Die NTLA und OTA lehnen die Gemeinsame Erklärung mit Deutschland kategorisch ab. Kritisiert wird vor allem die Bezeichnung „Genozid aus heutiger Sicht“ und das Fehlen von Reparationszahlungen in der Erklärung.
