Seit letzter Woche sind Berufsjäger im Osten der Region Omaheke auf der Suche nach Problemlöwen unterwegs. Dies bestätigte die zuständige Vizedirektorin des Umweltministeriums für die Region, wie New Era berichtet. Es habe in den vergangenen Wochen zahlreiche Zwischenfälle mit Löwen vor allem unweit des Hegegebietes Nyae Nyae gegeben. Mehr als 30 Ziegen sowie jeweils ein Esel, Pferd und Rind seien attackiert worden. Die Löwen wurden deshalb zum Abschuss freigegeben. Sie seien aber wohl weitergezogen, jedoch dauere die Suche nach ihnen noch bis zum 6. Juli an.
