Südafrikas Präsident Cyril Ramaphosa will sich heute bei einem Besuch in der Provinz KwaZulu-Natal selbst ein Bild von den Zerstörungen der letzten Tage machen. Derweil ist die Zahl der Toten im Zusammenhang mit den Unruhen auf 117 gestiegen, beinahe 1500 Personen wurden bislang verhaftet. Mittlerweile ist in den meisten Gegenden aber Ruhe eingekehrt, unter dem Hashtag CleanUpSA haben tausende Menschen mit den Aufräumarbeiten begonnen. Die Regierung dankte den Gemeinschaften für ihren Einsatz und versicherte, dass die Versorgung mit lebenswichtigen Gütern schnellstmöglich wiederhergestellt würde.
