Das umstrittene Explorationsunternehmen ReconAfrica hat bei seinem ersten Testbohrloch die maximale Tiefe erreicht. Dies berichtet das Fachportal „Energy Voice“. Zu den Ergebnissen der mehr als zwei Kilometer tiefen Bohrung wurden keine Informationen mitgeteilt. Man habe alle technischen Ziele zum geplanten Budget erreicht, hieß es dazu lediglich. Ziel sei ein Potential von 799 Millionen Barrel Erdöl. Nun hat das Unternehmen mit der Erstellung von seismischen Profilen begonnen. Sämtliche Ergebnisse sollen dann als Grundlage für weitere Bohrlöcher dienen. Der Aktienpreis reagierte auf die Bekanntmachung nur unwesentlich und liegt weiterhin etwa 70 Prozent unter dem vom Jahresanfang.
