Die SADC hat beim Treffen der Staatsoberhäupter den militärischen Einsatz in Mosambik verlängert. Dies geht aus einer Erklärung der Entwicklungsgemeinschaft hervor. Die SAMIM habe sei Juli deutliche Fortschritte gegen islamistische Gruppierungen im Norden des Landes gemacht. Botswana und Tansania hätten im Kampfeinsatz bisher drei Soldaten verloren. Ausdrücklich betonte die Troika in Pretoria, dass der Kampfeinsatz fortgeführt werden solle. Ziel müsse es sein die Stabilität wiederherzustellen. – Namibia wurde durch Staatspräsident Hage Geingob vertreten, der in Zukunft das Verteidigungs- und Sicherheitsorgan der SADC leiten wird.
