Der im Fishrot-Prozess angeklagte Ex-Justizminister Sacky Shanghala widersetzt sich einer Verschmelzung der beiden Prozesse. In einer eidesstaatlichen Erklärung gab Shanghala bekannt, dass für es für eine Zusammenlegung keine gesetzliche Grundlage gebe. Zudem habe die Staatsanwaltschaft beschlossen, ihn in zwei getrennten Verfahren anzuklagen und sei nun an diese Entscheidung gebunden. Die Anklage wiederum argumentiert, dass zwei Prozesse eine kostspielige Duplizierung der Beweisführung darstellen würden. Der Antrag auf Fusion der beiden Fishrot-Verfahren soll am 20. September verhandelt werden.
