Gesundheitsminister Kalumbi Shangula hat vor einem erneuten Anstieg der Corona-Fallzahlen im Dezember gewarnt. Das sei vor allem auf die Reisen, Feiern und Familienzusammenkünften zur Urlaubszeit zurückzuführen. Er rief daher alle Namibier auf, sich bis Ende November impfen zu lassen. Bereits im vergangenen Jahr hatte die zweite Welle der Pandemie im Anschluss an die Weihnachts- und Neujahrstage ihren Höhepunkt erreicht. Derweil mahnte Shangula einen zu laxen Umgang mit den Hygiene-Vorschriften im Bildungssektor an. Ein großer Teil der Neuinfektionen wurde zuletzt unter Schülern verzeichnet.
