Südafrika hat den Corona-Notstand erneut verlängert. Die Ministerin für traditionelle Angelegenheiten des Landes, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, machte die Verlängerung bis Mitte November heute amtlich. Der Notstand wäre ursprünglich zum Ende der Woche ausgelaufen. Er war als Reaktion auf die Pandemie bereits im März 2020 ausgerufen worden und gilt seitdem durchgängig. Zuletzt hatte es vor allem von Seiten der Opposition vermehrte Rufe nach einem Ende des Ausnahmezustands gegeben. Präsident Cyril Ramaphosa wiederum bezeichnete die Maßnahme als notwendig im Kampf gegen die Pandemie. Das Land befindet sich aktuell in einem angepassten Lockdown der Stufe 1.
