Die Vereinten Nationen haben die anhaltende Praxis von Kinderehen in Simbabwe verurteilt. Zuvor hatte es einen öffentlichen Aufschrei gegeben, nachdem Berichte über den Tod eines 14-jähriges Mädchen bei der Geburt ihres Kindes die Runde machten. In einem UN-Statement heißt es dazu, dass bis zu ein Drittel aller Mädchen in Simbabwe vor dem 18. Lebensjahr verheiratet würden. Laut der Nachrichtenagentur AFP habe es vor allem zu Corona-Zeiten einen Anstieg von Teenage-Schwangerschaften und Kinderehen gegeben. Die Vereinten Nationen fordern derweil ein Ende der Straflosigkeit für die sexuelle Ausbeutung von Minderjährigen in Simbabwe.
