Windhoek will seinen Titel als „sauberste Stadt Afrikas“ zurückerlangen. Dieses Ziel gab Bürgermeisterin Sade Gawanas im Rahmen der neuen Säuberungskampagne aus. In Zusammenarbeit mit verschiedenen Institutionen sollen dabei die Bürger der Hauptstadt über die Wichtigkeit von Müllvermeidung und Wiederverwertung informiert werden. Zudem soll generell Müll beseitigt und die illegale Müllentsorgung bekämpft werden. Insgesamt werden dafür N$ 750.000 zur Verfügung gestellt.
