Der Tourismussektor hat auch im Oktober gute Bettbelegungszahlen verzeichnet. Nach Angaben des Gastgewerbeverbandes HAN lag die Auslastung im Vormonat bei 65,5 Prozent. Das sind fast elf Prozentpunkte mehr als noch im Oktober 2022. Besonders gut sahen dabei die Zahlen an der Küste aus, wo die höchste Bettenbelegung seit Oktober 2018 registriert wurde. Auch der kurzfristige Ausblick bleibt nach Angaben von HAN-Geschäftsführerin Gitta Paetzold positiv. Weiterhin kommen mit über 40 Prozent die meisten Touristen aus den deutschsprachigen Ländern in Europa. Im Vergleich zu 2019 gab es bei den Reisenden aus Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz sogar noch einen Zuwachs von über 4,5 Prozent.
Nachdem die Initiative zur Gründung einer weiteren privaten namibischen Fluggesellschaft Anfang des Jahres gescheitert war, wollten die Initiatoren von Fly Etosha Airways eigentlich noch im November einen neuen Anlauf wagen. Dafür wollten diese Medienberichten nach auf bestehende Lizenzen von namibischen Unternehmen zurückgreifen. Zunächst sollen vier Flugzeuge mit 50 bzw. 80 Sitzplätzen eingesetzt werden. Geflogen werden soll täglich zwischen Windhoek und Johannesburg sowie Kapstadt, vier Mal die Woche nach Gaborone, Luanda, Lusaka und Harare, drei Mal die Woche nach Victoria Falls und Maun sowie national elf Mal die Woche nach Ondwanga sowie fünf Mal die Woche nach Walvis Bay, viermal nach Rundu und Katima Mulilo und dreimal nach Lüderitz und Oranjemund. Mittelfristig will Fly Etosha Airways auch Opuwo, Khorixas, Tsumeb, Okakarara und Keetmanshoop bedienen.
Nachdem bereits seit Monaten die Aufnahme einer Verbindung zwischen Windhoek zu den Viktoriafällen in Simbabwe angekündigt wurde, hat nun FlyNamibia erstmals konkrete Daten genannt. Die private namibische Fluggesellschaft will ab dem 4. April dienstags, donnerstags und samstags die namibische Hauptstadt mit einer der größten touristischen Attraktionen im südlichen Afrika verbinden. Damit wird Victoria Fall in Zukunft sechs Mal die Woche von Discover Airlines bzw. FlyNamibia aus Windhoek bedient. Weiterhin ist auch die Aufnahme von Direktverbindungen nach Luanda in Angola und Maun in Botswana durch FlyNamibia geplant.
