Die Zukunft des namibischen Fußballs ist ungewisser denn je. Der langjährige Hauptsponsor der Namibia Premier League, der Mobilfunkbetreiber MTC, hat der Liga ein Ultimatum gesetzt. Sollte diese bis 31. Juli keinen weiteren Sponsor vorweisen können um eine Finanzierungslücke von acht Millionen Namibia Dollar zu schließen, werde auch MTC sein Angebot zurückziehen. Für die kommende Saison 2016/17 hat MTC eigentlich 15 Millionen Namibia Dollar als Sponsoringbetrag zugesichert.
