Die namibische Krebsvereinigung (CAN) hat vor einem Anstieg der Krebserkrankungen bei Kindern gewarnt. Seit 2013 registriere man im Schnitt jährlich beinahe 140 neue Fälle. In den Jahren zuvor waren es nur rund 80 Fälle. CAN-Geschäftsführer Rolf Hansen rief Eltern daher dazu auf, auf mögliche Symptome bei ihren Kindern zu achten. Zudem sollten Kinder gegen humane Papillomviren geimpft und über Risikofaktoren wie Rauchen und ungesunde Ernährungsweisen aufgeklärt werden. Am häufigsten seien Kinder laut der Krebsvereinigung von Augen-, Knochen- und Lymphknotenkrebs, sowie Leukämie betroffen.
