Nach heftigen Niederschlägen hat die südafrikanische Parkbehörde (SANParks) am Wochenende Teile des Kruger-Nationalparks evakuiert und abgeriegelt. Vor allem aus dem südlichen Teil wurden weitreichende Überschwemmungen vermeldet. Auch im Norden des Parks sollen die Flusspegel ansteigen. Personenschäden wurden laut SANParks bisher nicht vermeldet. Für diese Woche sind zudem weitere Regenfälle angekündigt. Das südafrikanische Wetteramt warnte vor lebensgefährlichen Fluten und anhaltenden Gewitterschauern, vor allem für die Provinz Limpopo.
