Der Mobilfunkanbieter MTC will in das Geschäft mit elektronischen Zahlungsmitteln einsteigen. Das teilte das Unternehmen im Rahmen der Vorstellung seines Jahresabschlusses für das vergangene Finanzjahr bekannt. Demnach habe die Zentralbank einer Tochtergesellschaft von MTC (Windhoek General Administrators (Pty) Ltd) die vorläufige Genehmigung zur Ausgabe von elektronischem Geld in Namibia erteilt. In den kommenden Quartalen wolle man so das Angebot für mobile Finanzdienstleistungen erweitern. Langfristig plant das Unternehmen von einem reinen Mobilfunkanbieter zu einem digitalen Dienstleister anzuwachsen. Derweil vermeldete MTC für das vergangene Finanzjahr einen Nachsteuergewinn von N$ 378 Millionen.
