Im Bergwerk Okanjande bei Otjiwarongo soll schon ab Mitte kommenden Jahres wieder Grafit abgebaut werden. Dies teilte die Imerys Group mit, die Muttergesellschaft der namibischen Northern Graphite Corporation. Demnach laufen nach der Übernahme für fast 300 Millionen Namibia Dollar die Vorbereitungen auf Hochtouren. Zunächst soll ein Teil der Verarbeitungsanlage von der Okorusu-Flussspatmine genutzt werden. Der Preis von Grafit hat sich in den vergangenen Jahren auf umgerechnet 35.000 Namibia Dollar pro Tonne verdoppelt. Bei Okanjande sollen bis zu 25 Millionen Tonnen liegen.
