Auch in Simbabwe sollen ab sofort Booster-Impfungen zum Einsatz kommen. Das teilte das Gesundheitsministerium des Landes mit. Priorität sollen dabei vor allem Mitarbeiter im Gesundheitswesen, Menschen mit Vorerkrankungen und Älteren eingeräumt werden. Präsident Emmerson Mnangagwa rief jedoch alle Bewohner des Landes auf, sich eine dritte Impfung zu holen. Es sei genug Impfstoff vorhanden. In Simbabwe waren die Infektionszahlen zuletzt regelrecht explodiert. Das Gesundheitsministerium vermeldete zuletzt eine Positivrate von 21 Prozent, allein am Wochenende wurden über 1500 neue Fälle vermeldet. Im Nachbarland ist mittlerweile auch die Omikron-Variante nachgewiesen.
