Der in Otjiwarongo geplante Biomasse-Industriepark soll 300 langfristige Arbeitsplätze schaffen. Dies berichtet The Brief unter Berufung auf Regionalgouverneur James Uerikua. Demnach ist das Projekt auf einer Fläche von 100 Hektar geplant. Hier sollen jährlich mehr als 190.000 Tonnen Holzschnipsel, 20.000 Tonnen Holzkohle, 12.000 Tonne Briketts, 4500 Tonnen Biokraftstoff und 160 Tonnen Tierfutter hergestellt werden. Die Erzeugnisse seien für den Export, vor allem nach Deutschland und andere Staaten der Europäischen Union vorgesehen. – Indessen teilte die US-Botschaft in Windhoek mit, dass erstmals etwa 1000 Tonnen Holzkohle aus Namibia in die USA exportiert wurden.
