Der südafrikanische Stromversorger Eskom hat sich für die anhaltenden Stromabschaltungen entschuldigt. Ein Ende ist jedoch nicht in Sicht. Mindestens heute und morgen wird der Strom in der Nacht wieder abgeschaltet um die Notfallreserven aufzubauen, heißt es von Seiten des Unternehmens. Laut Eskom-Betriebsleiter Jan Oberholzer habe es in diesem Finanzjahr bereits 32 „load shedding“-Tage gegeben. Im gesamten vergangenen Finanzjahr waren es 47. Diese Zahlen seien besorgniserregend, so Oberholzer. Das Unternehmen benötige zusätzliche Kapazität zwischen 4.000 und 6.000 Megawatt, um künftige Stromabschaltungen zu vermeiden. Gleichzeitig sprach er aber auch von signifikanten finanziellen Problemen.
